The annual Lincoln Highway Buy-Way Yard Sale starts today in communities across the East and Midwest, and we're sure there will be many who take some time this weekend to travel up and down this national roadway to see what deals can be found.
Locally, Chester and East Liverpool are among the towns on the old Lincoln Highway, said to be the nation's first coast-to-coast paved road, and a variety of yard sales and other activities are planned.
The three-day yard sale traditionally brings many visitors to each community, and Chester and East Liverpool are no different.
Chester, for example, always has residents set up their items right along Carolina Avenue for everyone going through town to see.
This is a great opportunity for our area to showcase some of what makes our communities - and the Ohio Valley in general - so special.
We encourage our residents to find ways to take part in this annual event, whether you have a yard sale or not.
Business can offer specials for visitors, perhaps put up some civic-minded decorations or even a simple "welcome" sign.
This is a chance for all of you to shine!
