Barbara Everson

EVERSON, Barbara L., 69, of Wintersville, OH, formerly of Brilliant, OH, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2012, at her home surrounded by her loving family.

She was born Aug. 4, 1943, in Steubenville, OH, a daughter of the late Merle "Brownie" and Ruth A. (Manion) Lathem.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Donald R. Lathem and Merle B. Lathem.

Barbara was a devoted mother and homemaker. She loved gardening, spending time with her family and had an avid love of Key West, Fla. Barbara was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church.

She leaves behind her husband of 53 years, Lawrence "Larry" R. Everson Sr. The couple was married at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church Aug. 29, 1959, with the Rev. Frank Patella officiating.

She also leaves behind six children, Sheila (Larry) Petras of Brilliant, Tammy (Mark) Persich of Peoria, Il, Barbara (Greg) Verhovec of Rayland, Janet (Dave) Filippi of Dover, Laurie (Rich) Mayeres of Shadyside, and Lawrence R. Everson Jr. of Smithfield

Barbara and Larry share 14 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; Somer (Petras) Snyder, Sunnie (Petras) Beckett, Corey Dennis, Lauren (Dennis) Beasley, Drew Dennis, Greg Verhovec, Audrianna Verhovec, David Filippi, Gabriel Filippi, Luke Filippi, Jenna Mayeres, Jaycee Mayeres, Emily Everson, Xander Everson, Haley Dennis, Kinley Dennis, Madison Beasley, and Hunter Beasley.

Barbara's heart will go on through her and every one of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be lovingly remembered.

Friends will be received at the Wheeler Funeral Home, 712 Third St., Brilliant, on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Barb will Lay in State at St. Agnes Catholic Church on Saturday from 9 a.m. until the time of her Funeral Liturgy with Mass at 10 a.m. with Fr. James M. Dunfee, celebrant. Interment will follow in New Alexandria Cemetery.
