MARLING, Gloria Denise, 63, of Follansbee, WV, passed away on Monday, Aug. 6, 2012.
Denise was born on Sept. 19, 1948, in Steubenville, OH. She was the daughter of the late Joseph W. and Gloria R. (Bilderback) Marling.
Denise graduated from Follansbee High School Class of 1966. Denise was a teacher at First Colonial High School in Virginia Beach, retiring after 24 years of service. She was a member of the Virginia Beach Education Association and the National Education Association. Denise was recognized as an Outstanding Women of America. She was a faithful member of Old St. John's Episcopal Church, Colliers, WV.
Denise is survived by her three devoted children, six caring grandchildren, half brother, Jay D. Marling and a half sister, Nancy J. Marling both of Shadyside, OH, and several loving friends.
Family and friends will be received at the James Funeral Home, 1245 Main Street, Follansbee, WV, on Thursday, Aug. 9 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. and again on Friday, August 10 from 8:30-9:30 a.m. until Denise is transferred to church by a formal procession. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, Aug. 10 at 10 a.m. at Old St. John Church, Colliers, with the Father Gene Sheppard, celebrant
Following the Mass, Denise and her family have requested cremation.
