Get out and enjoy the Washington County Fair

Weirton Daily Times

With the summer season creeping closer to an end, fair season is getting under way.

On Saturday, residents throughout Washington County and beyond will focus on Washington, Pa. as the annual celebration known as the Washington County Agricultural Fair kicks off.

This annual event provides a variety of rides and entertainment for residents of all ages while also showcasing the farming traditions of the area.

People will find a wide array of things to do during the festival, including a petting zoo, animal exhibits, tractor pulls, harness racing, cooking contests and live performances from many local and regional favorites, as well as a couple nationally known acts, such as "American Idol" finalist Adam Brock, who is scheduled to perform Saturday evening.

It is always important for us to get out into our communities, see friends, family and maybe meet someone new. It is just as important to find ways to learn more about our area, including its history, businesses and culture. The Washington County Agricultural Fair does just that, and with a week full of activities there is no reason not to spend at least a little bit of time there.

It is among the first in a wave of county fairs held each year throughout the region.

Whether it is in West Virginia, Pennsylvania or Ohio, there is always something fun to do at our local fairs and festivals, and we encourage you to see all they have to offer.
