Brooke downs Toronto

TORONTO - Brooke's Eric Kenny and Toronto's John-Mike Romey tied for medalist honors Thursday at Dyer Country club with matching 39s as the Bruins defeated the Red Knights, 165-201.

The three remaining Brooke players - Cody Dodd, Matt Beaman and Logan Lojszczyk - each shot 42.

For Toronto, Brad Melville fired a 44, Ben Hlivko a 55 and Nick Ighnat a 63.

Rogers is medalist

WEIRTON - Madonna's Michael Rogers earned medalist honors with a 37 Thursday at Williams Country Club as the Blue Dons shot 165 to beat Linsly (175) and Weir (208), but fall to Morgantown (162).

Thomas Gianni shot 40 and Alex Colantonio and Nick Mazur each had 44 for Madonna.

For the Mohigans, Hunter Woods and Tara Hanson each carded a 38, Jesse Evanto a 42 and River Hanes and Jimmy Harper each had a 44.

For Linsly, David Coram 39 and Casey O'Korn shot 39, Steve Songer 48 and Nicole Gray 49

For Weir, Vince Gaudio shot 50, Zach Midcap 51, Alex Creel 51 and Tyler Warrck 56

Crusaders take second

CAMBRIDGE - Buckeye Trail shot 163, behind Justin Wilson's 35 to earn medalist honors, to defeat Steubenville Catholic Central (174), Meadowbrook (179) and Fort Frye (209) Thursday at Salt Fork State Park Golf Course.

Austin Meronoff led the way for the Crusaders with a 39. Mike Manfresca carded a 41, Jason Bensur a 46 and Nick Ivkovich a 48.

Central blanks Redskins

MINGO JUNCTION - The Catholic Central girls soccer team moved to 2-0 Thursday with a 9-0 victory over Indian Creek at Muth Field. The Crusaders have yet to allow a goal. The Redskins fell to 0-2.

Katie Irvin and Kristen Looman each totaled three goals. Carly Abraham, Kat Moore and Sophia Bodo each scored one.

Maria Boston finished with four assists and Looman added another.

Moriah Vosteen had no saves for Central and Emily Herrmann had one.

Toronto club to host target shoot

TORONTO - The Toronto Rod and Gun Club will host a 3D target archery shoot from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday. Crossbows are welcome. Food and beverages will be available.

Final sign-ups for fall league

STEUBENVILLE - Final registration for the Steubenville Girls Softball Association is being held online at www.vill-sgsa.com for U10, U12 and U18, for players and teams.

It is also being held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Jim Woods Park.

Toronto selling tickets

TORONTO - Reserved season tickets for the Red Knights varsity football season are on sale at Colonial Garden and Gifts through Sept. 7. The cost is $40 for the season.

General admission is $6 at the gate and senior citizen tickets are $5 at the gate.

The fall sports discount cards are on sale in the principal's office from Monday through Sept. 7.

Costs are $40 for students, adults $55 each or two for $80 and senior citizens $45 each or two for $70. Adults and seniors include 13 varsity-only fall sports events. The student passes include junior varsity and junior high fall sports.

Tickets are the gate are $6 for adults, $5 for seniors and $4 for students.

Redskins boosters to meet

WINTERSVILLE - The Indian Creek Athletic Boosters will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the high school cafeteria. New members are encouraged to join and support the school and athletes.

Lloyd to compete in event

ROCK HILL, S.C. - Steubenville Catholic Central's Megan Lloyd has been selected to compete in the Queen of Diamonds Showcase South at Winthrop University today and Saturday.

She plays summer travel with Silver Creek Starz in Pittsburgh and has also been selected as a 2013 Queen of Diamonds North participant, and is a selection to the European Cup team for 2014.
