To the editor:
Mayor Domenick Mucci and some city council members have decided to violate freedom of religion for all citizens. Article 1, Paragraph 7 of the Ohio Constitution clearly defines this freedom. They are bound by their oath to protect and defend it and their blatant purposeful actions call into question their legitimacy to hold office. I believe this is an impeachable offense.
This city logo infringes on the rights of all non-Christians with the insertion of the Franciscan University of Steubenville chapel and cross. Did Law Director S. Gary Repella tell them they are violating the Constitution with their actions? Is he aiding their fight?
There is now a smear campaign being waged against all who oppose, calling them atheists. We have conservative law firms urging the mayor to take this fight to the courts, but refusing to foot the full bill should the city lose. Other services will be denied or canceled due to the lack of funds should the city be made to pay for the Freedom From Religion's court costs. I'm sure Repella made them aware of that as well but we are in the dark as he has chosen to address the mayor and city council behind closed doors. What's to hide?
