The Buena Vista Residents group will welcome Cathy Davison, Steubenville's city manager, as a special guest to its September meeting.
A tailgate party will be held at the Sept. 12 meeting of the Buena Vista Residents group beginning at 6:30 p.m. in the basement of the Buena Vista United Methodist Church.
A prize will be awarded for the person who best represents his or her favorite team. Participants are asked to bring a favorite tailgate food. Drinks will be provided.
Davison will be on hand to make a presentation on the renewal of the city's 5-mill operating levy.
The monthly recycle pickup will be conducted Sept. 13.
Residents are reminded that items should be placed at curbside by noon on those days for pickup by volunteers between noon and 4 p.m. Plastics and cans can be combined, but paper and plastic should not be mixed. Paper should be bundled in paper bags or cardboard. The pickup is not for glass or Styrofoam.

-- OCTOBER: There will be no monthly meeting, but the recycle pickup is scheduled for Oct. 11. The annual bonfire will be held at 6 p.m. Oct. 14 in the upper level of Jim Wood Park with hot dogs and drinks provided. There will be hay rides and the largest pumpkin contest with residents asked to bring a favorite pumpkin dessert. Rain date is Oct. 21.
-- NOVEMBER: The monthly recycle pickup is Nov. 8. The monthly meeting at the church basement at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 14 will be the Italian covered-dish night with participants asked to bring a favorite Italian side dish or dessert. Drinks will be provided.
