PIZZOFERRATO, John L., age 74, died Thursday morning in the arms of his daughters at his residence following a short illness.
He was born July 2, 1938, in Steubenville, the son of John and Margaret (DeLeonardis) Pizzoferrato and has resided with his daughter, Stacy Carothers the past 14 months, coming from Smithfield. Mr. Pizzoferrato was a veteran of the U.S. Marines. He was married to Margaret J. Hall on Sept. 9, 1960, at the First Presbyterian Church in Steubenville. Mr. Pizzoferrato was a retired truck driver with Weircove Moving & Storage.
Mr. Pizzoferrato was a former member of the Mingo Sportsman Club and the Jefferson Sportsman Club. He was currently a member of the Pine Valley Sportsman Club and the V.F.W., Post 943. He was an avid trap shooter and enjoyed fishing and being with his family.
Survivors include two daughters, Stacy L. (Fred) Carothers of Jefferson and Sherry A. Turnbull of Brilliant; four grandchildren, Anna (Jeremy) Gill, Sara (Eddie Kincaid) Carothers, Ryan (Nikki) Turnbull and Justin (Ashley) Turnbull; four great-grandchildren, Kennedy and Kamryn Kincaid and Lily and Lucas Gill; a brother, Dan Pizzoferrato of Smithfield; and seven step-brothers and sisters. "Besides losing our father, we have lost a great friend. He will be in our hearts forever."
His parents, his wife, Margaret in 2011 and a sister, Gloria Dayton all preceded him in death.
