More than 250 graduates and friends gathered at the Hopedale Social Hall for an all class reunion uniting individuals who attended and graduated from Adena High School prior to its becoming part of Buckeye Local in 1972.

The event included the presentation of Life Achievement Awards for those graduates that attained, what the Alumni Association members felt were noteworthy accomplishments. Among the honorees was Anita Jackson, who was cited for accomplishments that included her work as editor of a Chautauqua, N.Y.-based magazine; her work with the Ohio Department of Education in helping to establish a school in Belmont County; her leadership roles in local, national and international organizations; and "the thousands of dollars" that she raised for numerous worthwhile causes. Jackson is listed in the Library of Congress as an "Outstanding Woman of America" and did two appearances in the Al Harrington Show as a vocal solo in Hawaii. Harrington is the former actor from the TV Hawaii Five-O series.

She also was a state woman coordinator under Dagmar Celeste, wife of past Ohio Gov. Richard Celeste; has served in all three levels of the United Methodist Church; and has been the coordinator for the Jefferson County National Day of Prayer for the past 20 years. Jackson is director of community relations at the Franciscan University of Steubenville.

The other persons honored posthumously were the late Anthony "Tony" Bedway and his brother John Bedway for their philantrophy and business development thrust in the area; and Larry Gosnell for "his remarkable record and leadership in the U.S. Army."

Walter Kovaleski was presented a special personal award by the committee.

Other officers and members participating in the evening's program included Marge Goldsborough, vice president John Parkinson, Jerry Figurski, Fred Stergois, Bernie Mentro, Marlene Wasko Hardman, Jane Dalrymple Hornyak, Lois Raymer Konkoleski, Mitch and Nancy Toto, Pete Milicia, Sandy Harubin, Hilda Wills Miric, Betty Walker Campbell, Jerry Anderson, Mike Zonkoski and Marge Gullo Bednarki.
