Never Alone holding annual rally

WEIRTON - Never Alone West Virginia will hold a rally in support of a drug-free community at 5 p.m. Saturday at the Weirton Event Center located at the former Cove School site.

Registration begins at 5 p.m., and, for a $15 donation, T-shirts are available.

Natalie Herbick, WTOV-TV personality, will be the mistress of ceremonies.

The following will perform: Weir High School cheerleaders, Kester's School of Dance, Michelle's Dance Studio, Casey Sisters Dance Studio, Deasah and Friends and Brad Peck.

The rally will include prayer by Rich Muckle of New Life Worship Center, a candle lighting and moment of silence, Carrie Oliver Shultz will lead the crowd in singing "Never Alone," and a butterfly release.

There will be several special guests and speakers, including Sen. Ed Bowman, Eric Zaney of the Weirton Area Ambulance and Rescue Squad and Carmen Cappozzi of Sage's Army in Greensburg, Pa.

Arcelor Mittal Steel will present a donation to the group, and the winners of the poster contest will be announced. Winners must be present, and posters must be delivered to Patti Barnabei no later than Friday. There will be several drawings.

The evening will close with a performance by Spinning Jenny.

Several vendors will be on hand, including food vendors.
