If you're looking for a way to relax with friends and family, enjoy some great food and drink and help say goodbye to summer this weekend, we would suggest you consider attending the Friendship Wine and Festival.
Six of Ohio's top wineries are scheduled to be on hand for the third-annual event, which will run Friday and Saturday at Rock Point at Friendship Park. Food vendors and artisans from around the Tri-State Area also will be on hand.
Look for a wide variety of entertainment, from jazz to blues, from comedy to a tribute to one of Steubenville's most famous sons, Dean Martin.
A local food tent sponsored by the Ohio State University Extension Office and the Jefferson Count Farm Bureau will feature cooking demonstrations with food items coming from local farmers and restaurants.
Roger Hilty and his organizing committee have built on the success of the first two festivals and appear to have put together another first-class event.
The festival is affordable - a one-day ticket costs $17 in advance or $20 at the gate, with a two-day ticket selling for $27 in advance or $30 at the gate. A general admission ticket is available for $10, and children under 12 will be admitted for free.
Sponsors include World Radio Telecommunications, Hess Corp. Billy Petrella, the UPS Store and Utility Contracting Inc. Their backing, combined with the work of Hilty and his committee, will help make this weekend a pleasant one.
We thank them for their efforts, and look forward to seeing you at Rock Point.
