LANGELOTH, Pa. - The Langeloth Church of Christ will hold a series of gospel lessons based on the Cross of Christ Sept. 9-13.
Steven P. Smithbauer of Weirton will be the speaker. Weekday services will be held at 7 p.m., and the Sunday services will be held at 10:45 a.m. and 6 p.m.
Lesson titles are "The Depth of the Cross," "The Draw of the Cross," "Darkness at the Cross," "Desertion at the Cross," "Determination at the Cross" and "Death at the Cross."
Smithbauer is a 1982 Ohio Valley College graduate and began preaching full-time for the Church of Christ in Cameron in May 1982, where he served until April 1994. He has served as the Weirton Heights Church of Christ pulpit minister since April 1994.
He recently celebrated his 30th anniversary of ministering on May 16, 2012.
He has conducted gospel meetings and taught at lectureships in West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Kentucky and Tennessee. He has also been active as a teacher in various church camps in the Tri-State area and has taught occasionally as a substitute teacher for the West Virginia School of Preaching in Moundsville.
Since 2010, he has also served as one of the elders for the Weirton Heights congregation. He has been married to Teena M. Fife for 32 years, and they raised three boys, David of Fairmont, Matthew of Wheeling and Lucas of Alliance, Ohio.
