Paris Presbyterian begins its

annual yard sale today

PARIS - The Paris Presbyterian Church will hold its annual yard sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. today and Saturday.

Items will include kitchenware, exercise equipment, purses, baby items, holiday decorations, garden statues, books, pictures and furniture.

Nessly holding 'Fill-a-Pew' Sunday

NEW CUMBERLAND - Nessly Chapel United Methodist Church will hold a "Fill-a-Pew" at the 9:30 a.m. service Sunday.

There will be special singing and a luau will follow the service. Those who don't have a home church are welcome to attend.

St. Joseph hosting Rosary

WEIRTON - The St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church's Rosary Group invites the public to attend a Memorial Rosary at 7 p.m. Sept. 11 at the church located at 229 California Ave., next to Madonna High School.

Colleen Mindzak and Jeff Davis will provide music. Light refreshments will be served. The public is invited to attend. There is no charge.

Service group seeks members

BURGETTSTOWN, Pa. - Connected Threads, a women's service knitting and crochet group, is inviting new members to come and participate in their weekly coffee and Bible study meeting from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Thursdays, beginning Sept. 13.

The group also works on afghans and other items for women in need. All women of any age or skill level from the community are welcome to attend. Basic beginning knit and crochet sills will be taught to anyone who wants to learn and work on the projects. All yarn and supplies are provided without charge.

Newcomers Club to meet

WHEELING - The Wheeling Newcomers Club will hold its monthly meeting at 10:30 a.m. Sept. 13 at the Stratford Springs Restaurant.

The program will feature members in a show-and-tell segment. Membership is open to all women new to the area. The cost is $15 per person for lunch.

St. Nicholas holding pepper dinner

WEIRTON - St. Nicholas Orthodox Church will hold a stuffed pepper dinner and bake sale, beginning at 2 p.m. Sept. 13 at the church located at 604 Colliers Way, across from the Weirton Medical Center.

The meal includes stuffed peppers, potatoes, vegetables and dessert. The cost is $8. Delivery is available.

Story hour to have pizza theme

WELLSBURG - Kim Harless, Brooke County Public Library program director, will present a pizza-themed story hour at 5:30 p.m. Sept. 13 at the library.

Indoor soccer holding signups

WEIRTON - Krazy 'Bout Sportz will hold sign-ups for indoor soccer from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sept. 13 and Oct. 11 and 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sept. 21 at the facility located at 2850 Weir Ave.

Divisions include 4- to 5-year-olds, 6-, 7- and 8-year-olds and 9- to 10-years olds. The cost is $40 for one child, and $30 for each additional child.

Old-timers buffet scheduled

WEIRTON - The Weirton Steel Corp. blast furnace/sinter plant retirees will hold their quarterly old-timers buffet at noon Sept. 19 at the Serbian American Cultural Center on Colliers Way.

Those who have never attended the event must call to make a reservation. Those who have regularly attended will be contacted as usual.

The meeting will be informal, with casual dress.

Legion Auxiliary holding craft show

HOOKSTOWN, Pa. - The Hookstown American Legion Post 952 Ladies Auxiliary is hosting its annual fall craft show Oct. 6-7.
