KOSIKOWSKI, Henry L., 90, of Mingo Junction, Ohio, passed away Friday, September 7, 2012 at Trinity Medical Center East, Steubenville, Ohio.
He was born August 18, 1922 in Steubenville, Ohio, a son of the late Frank and Katherine Koska Kosikowski.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Zigman, Edward, Stanley and Leo Kosikowski; and a sister, Cecelia Kosikowski Taylor.
Henry was a brakeman on the railroad at the Mingo plant of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel, retiring after 34 years of service. He was an Army veteran of World War II, a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, and a former member of St. Stanislaus Church, Steubenville, and the Wintersville American Legion Post #557, the PNA, VFW and Eagles. He was an avid accordion player and enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting, gardening and polka dancing.
Surviving are his beloved wife, Mary "Lou" Taylor Kosikowski, whom he married Oct. 21, 1951; a son, Frank (Cathie) Kosikowski of Wintersville, Ohio; two daughters, Esther (Sam) Samson of Steubenville and Patricia (David) Barnes of Mingo Junction; three grandchildren, Sammy and Lucas Samson and Melinda Sue Kosikowski; and seven great- grandchildren.
Friends received 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday at Wheeler Funeral Home, 101 Longview Ave., Mingo Junction. Services will be held on Monday at 10 a.m. at the graveside in New Alexandria Cemetery, with military honors by the Wintersville American Legion.
