Weirton Daily Times

The Women of Mount Zion Baptist Church will begin its annual Women's Day services on Saturday with a women's retreat to the theme "Women Humbling Themselves Before God."

The retreat will begin with a continental breakfast at 8:15 a.m. Devotions will begin at 9 a.m. led by the Wellsville Praise Team.

Classroom instruction will begin at 9:30 a.m. to the theme "How to Humble Yourself." The classes and facilitators are: "Routinely Confessing Your Sins to God," Prophetess Terrie Brooks; "Taking Wrong Patiently and Receiving Correction and Feedback from Others Graciously," Elder Marci Allen; and "Cultivating a Grateful Heart," Sister Charlene Dawkins.

After the classes, Minister Quanita Williams will render a mime on "True Worship." The service will end with a sermonette on "Being Quick To Forgive" by Pastor Lydia Spragin.

Lunch will be served following the service. The public is invited. A free will love offering will be taken.

At Sunday's 11 a.m. worship service, the women's ministry will present "The Parade of Hats" to the theme "It's Not About Us - It's About Jesus." In keeping with the tradition of black women and church hats, all women from Mt. Zion and any visiting churches are asked to wear a hat and march in the hat parade. Wylene Alexander will comment on pride and humility during the march. The Mount Zion Mass Choir will perform, and Pastor Norries A. Hood Sr. will deliver the gospel message

Alexander is the Women's Ministry chairman, and BJ Prentice is the co-chairman. Women's Ministry members are Ruth Pendergrast, Isabelle Lavender, Rose Lavender, Vanessa Styles, Charlene Reid, Estelle Dalton, Lynn Knight, Juanita Thorn, Floretta Hampton, Bunswella Brown, Cheryl Austin, Sharron Cain, Catherine Coleman, Paulette Johnson, Rose Slaughter and Millicent Slaughter.
