'Quiet Moments'

September 14, 2012
Weirton Daily Times
The Literary and Art departments of the Weirton Woman’s Club, a General Federation of Women’s Clubs of West Virginia member, will hold a joint opening meeting at noon Saturday at the Mary H. Weir Public Library, honoring “Quiet Moments,” the statue of a young woman reading on the library’s front lawn, on the 30th anniversary of the installation. “Quiet Moments” was sculpted by the late Taylor Taylor and commissioned by the Art Department, then under the direction of Chair Rita Wickham and the late Committee Chair Bette Hesse. All department and general club members are invited to attend and hear how “Quiet Moments” became a gift to Weirton and iconic city landmark. Committee members include, from left, Molly Mossor, Literary Chair Diana Durst, Art Chair Enid Williams and Lois Flemm. -- Contributed
