Diamond entertains AARP

WEIRTON - AARP Chapter 3846 President Joann Bugin called the Sept. 10 meeting to order, and Virginia Kucan gave the invocation.

Entertainment Chair Bettye Williamson introduced Joe Diamond, who performed.

The Casey Sisters Dance Group will perform at the October meeting.

Bugin welcomed guests Katy Leyland, Cheryl Martin, Cindy Gilbert, Paul and Mary Yates and Jack Cummings.

Secretary Barbara Purks and Treasurer Frank Fazio presented their reports, which were approved.

Membership Chair Joyce Dobbs reported dues must be paid in October.

Regina Truax reported 85 members and seven guests were in attendance.

Truax announced the following tours:

Oct. 10, American Bandstand;

Oct. 14-20, Branson, Mo.; and

Nov. 12-16, Nashville, Tenn.

Sunshine Chair Mary Rose Spano sent get-well cards to Pauline Stillwagon and Carolyn Hill and a sympathy card to Patsy Verlest. Members sang "Happy Birthday" to Katy Allen, Frank Scarfo, Patty Beltrame, Carol Irvine, Mary Rose Spano, Jean Burdette, Minnie Malloy, Kathleen Horvath, Nikki Ann Cable and Jennie Mascara.

The Nominating Committee was selected and includes Chair Nancy Smurda, Carol Irvine, Enola Romanelli, Marion Bowen and Katy Allen.

Bill Wetzel, Ruth Sperry, Barb Thompson, Paul Yates, Valeria Adamczyk, Patsy Verlest, George Kucan, Katy Allen, Walt Klepadlo, Cindy Gilbert, Joann Bugin, Peggy Sweeney, Mary Rose Spano, Nancy Smurda, Regina Truax, Marion Bowen and Eleanor Pritchard received prizes during the meeting.

Virginia Kucan gave the benediction.
