WINTERSVILLE - The Oak Glen girls volleyball team dropped the first set to homestanding Indian Creek before winning the next three to claim a 22-25, 25-22, 25-22, 26-24 win Thursday.
For the Golden Bears Sydney Kell finished with eight points, four aces, 13 assists and four kills; Vanessa Hissam had three points, 14 kills and two blocks; Morgan Poling had four points, nine kills and four blocks; Lacee Porter had 12 points, 16 kills and four digs; Abby Tice had four points, two aces, two kills and 11 digs; Jessica Stivason had nine kills and two blocks; Kaitlyn Smith had five points and 12 digs; Carissa Williams had 12 points, two aces and 12 assists; and Madison Jusczak had two kills and two blocks.
For the Redskins (6-2) Whitney Martin had eight kills, three blocks, and 18 digs; Ali Collaros had three aces and eight digs; Mallorie Sullivan had five digs; Brey Mays had four kills, five blocks and 16 digs; Bre Berryman had 18 kills, seven blocks and two digs; Kiarra Kamarec had four kills and seven blocks; Alexis Fithen had three kills and three digs; and Jessica Furda had 32 assists, four aces, five kills, four blocks and 15 digs.

Wildcats sweep Panthers
RICHMOND - The Edison volleyball team swept visiting Buckeye Local 25-15, 25-21, 25-18 Thursday.
For the Wildcats, Kylie Smith had 10 points, five kills and three digs; Hannah Johns had 12 points and two aces; Katelyn Pollock had 13 kills, four blocks and two digs; Caitlin Brenstuhl had 30 assists, nine points and three kills; Victoria Freeland had two points; and Maddie Williamson had nine points, two aces and two digs.
For the Panthers Amy Balk had four kills and two digs; Kaylee DeCesare had eight points, five aces and six digs; Kayla Fillipovich had five points; Becca Rector had five points, two aces, three kills and four assists; Preslie Renforth had three digs; Morgan Staten had two points, three kills and two assists; Morgan Fedorko had five kills and three blocks; Lexus Fedorko had two assists; and Kierstyn Czuchran had two assists.
Big Red falls to St. Clairsville
ST. CLAIRSVILLE - The Big Red volleyball team dropped a four-set decision at St Clairsville 26-24, 25-22, 25-21, 25-23 Thursday.
Abby Taylor had a tremendous all-around match for Big Red with six points, 11 kills, 17 assists, 12 digs and six blocks. Taylor Young added three points, 11 kills, eight assists and 15 digs; Mytia Barker eight points, 10 digs and two assists; Carmie Biasi 11 points, and 17 digs; Annie Nehrbas 12 points, eight kills and five blocks; and Brittany Bodo eight points, six kills and three digs.
Big Red (1-6) is at Dover for tri-match with Dover and Minerva Saturday at 10 a.m.
Redskins beat Carrollton
MINGO JUNCTION - The Indian Creek boys soccer team beat visiting Carrollton 4-1 Thursday.
The Redskins were led by Ian Gambill's hat trick with Max Lewis adding a goal and Anthony Young adding an assist. Matt Barker had 14 saves.
Zach Frye had the Warriors lone goal with Lane Kugler having 11 saves.
Indian Creek (2-6) hosts Oak Glen Monday at 7 p.m. for senior night at Kettlewell Memorial Stadium.
Weir doubles the Red Devils
WEIRTON - The Weir boys soccer team defeated St. Clairsville 4-2 Thursday.
The Red Riders (8-1-1) received two goals and an assist from Kenny Muhart and a goal and two assists from Alex Hannah. Shane Davis added a goal and an assist and Matt Tenaglio saved nine shots in net.
The Red Devils (6-2) received goals from Zach Oliver and Brock Ferrell and an assist from Austin Douglas. Goalie Isaac Wiley had 13 saves.
Edison edges Oak Glen
NEW CUMBERLAND - The Edison boys soccer team defeated Oak Glen 1-0 Thursday at the Bears' Den.
Alec Jones scored the game winner for Edison (4-4) off a Tyler Kirk assist. Trav Bell had 10 saves in the shut out.
Nick Fryer had three saves for the Golden Bears.
Big Red blanks Magnolia
STEUBENVILLE - The Big Red boys soccer team blanked Magnolia 2-0 Thursday at Harding Stadium.
Brandon Llewellyn had a goal and an assist for Steubenville. Dominic DiCarlo added a goal and Jorge Dominguez an assist. John Paul Duff had one save.
Magnolia goaltender Aaron Scheibelhood turned away 21 shots in the loss that saw Big Red outshoot the Blue Eagles 29-1.
Big Red (4-2-1) head to oak Glen Saturday at 9 a.m.
Central falls to Linsly
STEUBENVILLE - The Steubenville Catholic Central girls soccer team dropped a 4-1 decision to Linsly at Tony Recinella Field.
The Lady Crusaders (5-3-1) struck first early in the first half on a goal by Maria Boston, assisted by keeper, Moriah Vosteen. Vosteen added 13 saves as well.
Linsly keeper, Morgan Brunner, stopped 6 shots in the victory.
Central hosts Oak Glen Saturday at 10 a.m.
Lady Bears beaten by Potters
EAST LIVERPOOL - The Oak Glen girls soccer team lost to East Liverpool 3-2 Thursday at Mangano Field.
Megan Collins and Alex Burch each provided a goal for the Golden Bears with Mollie Williams and Shania Helmich each adding an assist. Casey Highfield had nine save in goal.
Oak Glen travels to Steubenville Central Saturday at 1 a.m.
Big Red outshoots Weir
STEUBENVILLE - The Big Red golf team beat Weir 179-195 Thursday at Steubenville Country Club.
Big Red's Kasey Peterson earned medalist honors with a 40. Jacob McKitrick added a 42, Andrew O'Dell a 47, and Mason Heatherington a 50.
Zack Midcap and Vince Gaudio led the Red Riders with 45s. Tyler Warrick added a 48 and Austin Paul Orrechio shot 57.
Huskies top Panthers
RAYLAND - The Harrison Central golf team beat Buckeye Local 171-190 Thursday at Bec-Wood Hills Golf Course.
The Huskies Drew Horn was medalist with a 36 while Austin Kowalski shot 44, Evan Ossman 45 and Bryce Walrath 46.
The Panthers were led by Kyle Sutphin's 46 with Bo Walker shooting 47, Clint Henry 48, and Ricky Sempkowski 49.
Madonna wins tri-match
WEIRTON - The Madonna golf team shot 194 to defeat Oak Glen (204) and Toronto (206) Thursday at Williams Country Club.
The Blue Dons were led by Ryan Watts 45 with Dom Silvestri shooting 47 and both Cole Roberts and Lorenzo Basil shooting a 51.
Oak Glen's Matt McLaughlin shot 47, Taylor Kincaid 48, Haley Spurlock 53 and Jacob Stipec 56.
Toronto's John Mike Romey was medalist with a 39. Brad Melville shot 44 with Ben Hlivko and Grant Scott shooting 64s.
Madonna is back in action for 18 holes today at the Williams Invitational with Burgettstown, Brooke, Wheeling Central, Southside Beaver, Edison, Weir and Oak Glen beginning at 8:30 a.m.
