The general election is fast approaching, and candidates are getting into full gear hoping to earn your votes.
We are going to be hearing and seeing a great deal of campaigning in the weeks leading up to Nov. 6, with candidates making the rounds through our state and communities.
It will be up to each of us, therefore, to pay attention to everything that is being said and educate ourselves before we take that step into the voting booth.
One such opportunity will take place at 7 p.m. Monday at the Serbian-American Cultural Center in Weirton, with a candidate forum hosted by the Weirton Woman's Club.
Organizers have invited candidates from a great number of the political races taking place this year, and many of them will be on hand to speak about the campaigns and their hopes for the future if they are elected.
We encourage our residents to attend this very important event and learn as much about these candidates as they can straight from the men and women themselves.
We also thank the membership of the Weirton Woman's Club for putting such an event together. Activities such as this are what help to keep us all involved in our government and our nation.
And if you are unable to attend, we still encourage you to take some time to learn about all of the candidates appearing on the ballot this year.
The election will be here before we know it.
