WEIRTON - The Church Women United Executive Board met, with 29 members in attendance, Sept. 7 at Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church located at 101 Lisa Court.
United Methodist President Dee Campbell welcomed those in attendance and new representatives Connie Gilbert of Memorial Baptist Church and Gerri Harbaugh of Oakland Presbyterian Church.
Church Women United President Olivia Carter blessed the meal prepared by the women of the host church, and Marge DiClemente led members in the "Hallelujah Chorus."
Recording Secretary Joyce Summers and Isobel Bell gave their reports, and a letter of thanks from the Friends of the Domestic Violence Shelter was read. Telephone Chair Campbell went over procedures. Sunshine Chair Carol Village gave a report, and Hospitality Chair Eleanor Cline thanked the host church and announced the next meeting will be held Oct. 5 at the Oakland Presbyterian Church located on Wylie Ridge Road. Citizen Action Chair Diane Pastoric gave a report on the Dunbar Recreation Center project, large-print Bibles and snacks. First Vice President Karen Tate said UNICEF boxes will be distributed, dates to be announced.
The 2013 slate of officers will be presented at the October meeting. Summers is the nominating chair.
Village gave reading from the Fellowship of the Least Coin, "A Kindly Hand and Heart," John 20:18, and passed out "Smiles to Go," which members read aloud. Village requested members place their smiles in a card to a friend.
Sylvia Resnick, Campbell and Shirley Guz were hostesses for the fellowship hour.
