TAYLOR, Harold F., 92 of Burgettstown, Pa., passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, September 17, 2012, with his family by his side.
Mr. Taylor was born on February 1, 1920 in Burgettstown, the son of Benjamin and Ethel Taylor.
Mr. Taylor graduated from Union High School in 1938. He enlisted during World War II; served as an aviation cadet in the Army Transport Command; and was trained as a pilot. He also attended Knox College.
He worked at the American Zinc and Climax Molybdenum plants in Langloth, Pa., and later worked for Air Products & Chemicals as a chief operator in Weirton, West Virginia, where he retired in 1985.
On July 8, 1952, he married Lenora Frances "Connie" Conaway, who survives. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary this past summer.
Mr. Taylor enjoyed reading and gardening, spending a lot of time caring meticulously for his property.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sisters, Ruth Vega and Doris Diaz, and his brothers, Edwin and Donald Taylor.
Also surviving are daughter, Trudy (David) Strawn of Marietta, Ga.; sons Steve (Linda) Taylor of Phoenix, Ariz.; Kirk (Tina) Taylor of Pittsburgh, Pa.; and Greg (Maureen) Taylor of Warrenton, Va.; as well as grandchildren, Justin, Lauren, Zachary, Gretchen and K.
Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday, September 21 in the Taucher Funeral Home, 23 Erie Mine Road, Burgettstown, where services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, September 22, with the Rev. Dan Ekas officiating.
Interment will follow in Grandview Cemetery, Florence, with full military honors accorded by Slovan- Burgettstown VFD.
