WEIRTON - The American Legion Post 10 Auxiliary held their monthly meeting Monday, with President Shirley Brecht calling the meeting to order.
Chaplain Wanda Perrone gave the invocation. Members recited the Pledge of Allegiance, and Brecht led members in repeating the Preamble of the Constitution of the American Legion.
Secretary Clara Robinson called roll and read the August meeting minutes, which were approved as read. Treasurer Loretta Fabian gave her financial report; Vice President Gloria Jerrel reported Linda Corwin and Anna-Maria Taylor will be joining the auxiliary. Perrone sent get-well cards to Loretta Fabian, Joan Spano and Chris Barker. District President Tammy Workman and Past President Susan Wade sent Brecht a thank-you note.
The group will make a $50 donation to Bonnie's Bus, a mobile mammogram unit, in honor of deceased members.
Donna Gates was installed as the 2012-2013 sergeant-at-arms, and new member Pat Folden was welcomed. The by-laws were revised and some articles were changed; they will be submitted for approval by the state.
Brecht and members discussed the upcoming Korean War veterans dinner, which will be held at 2 p.m. Oct. 21 at the legion hall. The children's Christmas party will be held in December, and members will discuss it in more detail as it approaches.
Clara Robinson won the 50/50 drawing.
Loretta Fabian and Betty Chappell served refreshments; Pat Folden will serve next month.
Brecht closed the meeting, and Perrone gave the closing prayer.
The next meeting will be at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 15 at the legion hall.
