There are many sights and sounds which guarantee the beginning of autumn in the Ohio Valley.
The leaves changing color, the cool air and high school football are among the many welcome additions to the year, but so are several of our local community festivities.
One such event is taking place this weekend in Hancock County, and we hope to see a great turnout of residents and visitors alike.
In only its fourth year, the Fall River Fest in New Cumberland has become a great event for people of all ages, with lots of food, fun and entertainment available both Saturday and Sunday.
Scheduled this year are more than 30 food and craft vendors, entertainment from groups like Brad Hileman, Route 45, Spinning Jenny and the Joseph Sisters, and the Hancock County Arts Council show. Saturday's activities also will include a catfish tournament and the Riverfest 5K Walk/Run, while Sunday will see the New Cumberland Kids Got Talent contest.
The art show, meanwhile, sponsored by the Arts Council and the Top of West Virginia CVB, will include displays of work by local artists inside the former city building.
This is a great event for our area, and a great way to kick off the fall season.
We hope to see everyone out there.
