WEIRTON - The Weirton Medical Center Foundation continues to receive support from the community, and Monday's golf tournament fundraiser was no exception.
Kelli McCoy of Lex Multimedia and spokesperson for Weirton Medical Center, said the fourth-annual event continues to see an increase in support from the community with 25 teams registered on Monday.
"We've had more teams than ever," McCoy said.

Monday's event, held at Williams Country Club, is one of the major fundraisers of the year for the Weirton Medical Center Foundation.
"The Weirton Medical Center Foundation funds a variety of health initiatives in the area," McCoy said.
Among those services is a community wellness program, which goes into local schools, assisted living centers and other facilities to teach about healthy lifestyles.
The foundation also works to provide funding for nursing scholarships and medical education.
"The event wouldn't have been possible without the support of the business community," McCoy explained. "So many local businesses have stepped forward."
Gold-level sponsors of the event were Radiology Associates; WesBanco; R&V Associates; and Business Records Management.
Silver-level sponsors were Tri-State Pharmacy; First Choice America Community Federal Credit Union; Hancock County Savings Bank; the Pain Center; Buchanan, Ingersoll and Rooney; Buck Consultants; and the Herald-Star and The Weirton Daily Times.
Every golfer received gifts provided by area businesses, including WesBanco, WTOV-TV, Hancock County Savings Bank, First Choice America Credit Union, AmCom and the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine.
