WEIRTON - The Weir boys soccer team topped Brooke 3-1 Saturday.
Kenny Muhart and Ryan Kirk each had a goal and an assist for the Red Riders. Shane Davis added a goal and Steven Maragos an assist. Matt Tenaglio saved seven shots in net.
Weir is now 10-2-2 on the season.
Jacob Kennedy scored the Bruins' goal on a Tyler Hooper assist. Goalkeeper Zachary Ciccolella had 17 saves.
Lady Riders blank Magnolia
NEW MARTINSVILLE - The Weir girls soccer team topped homestanding Magnolia 6-0 Saturday.
Alyssa Shingle scored four goals to lead the Lady Riders. Francesca Rock and Stephanie Pennacchio each added a goal. Mikayla Zias had two assists with Morgan Cassels adding one as well. Alyssa Kelly and Nicole Pellegrino combined for the shutout with Kelly saving three shots and Pellegrino stopping one.
The Blue Eagles' goaltender, Brianna Young, saved 12 shots.
Oak Glen nipped by East Fairmont
NEW CUMBERLAND - The Oak Glen boys soccer team dropped a 2-1 decision to East Fairmont Saturday at the Bears' Den.
The Golden Bears scored when Devin Polen found the back of the net on a beautiful assist from Cullen Bennett. Nick Fryer turned away 14 shots in goal.
Lady Bears stung by Bees
NEW CUMBERLAND - The Oak Glen girls soccer team fell 6-1 to East Fairmont Saturday at the Bears' Den.
The Golden Bears (6-8) received their goal off the foot of Alex Burch on an assist from Megan Collins. Casey Highfield saved eight shots in the loss.
Oak Glen plays again Saturday at John Marshall.
Bears win two; Edison splits pair
WELLSVILLE - The Oak Glen and Edison volleyball teams took part in a tri-match at Wellsville Saturday with both teams beating the Tigers and the Golden Bears earning victory over the Wildcats.
The Wildcats topped the Tigers 20-25, 25-21, 25-21. Kylie Smith had seven points and four digs; Katie Davidson added 10 assists, five points, 11 kills, five blocks, and four digs; and Hannah Johns had seven points, three kills, and two blocks.
Katelyn Pollock had four points, eight kills, three blocks, and eight digs with Caitlin Brenstuhl adding 22 assists, seven points, and three blocks; and Cassady Jarvis chipping in four points, six kills, and six blocks.
Alexis Gill had three kills and five blocks with Victoria Freeland adding two digs.
The Golden Bears topped the Wildcats 25-23 and 25-19.
Individually for the Golden Bears, Sydney Kell contributed four assists; Morgan Poling produced two kills, eight blocks, and two digs; and Abby Tice tallied 11 points, two aces, and two digs.
Also for Oak Glen, Lacee Porter recorded four kills, Caitlyn Smith collected three points and three digs, and Carissa Williams scored seven points to go along with five assists.
Finally, Jessica Stivason delivered four kills, Vanessa Hissam had eight kills, and Jessica Hutton netted two blocks.
Smith had three digs; Davidson had three assists, three points, six kills, and five blocks; Johns had five points and two digs; Pollock had four kills, two blocks, and five digs; Brenstuhl had 11 assists, 11 points, four aces, and three kills; Gill had three kills; and Jarvis had four points, two blocks, and two digs.
The Golden Bears defeated the Tigers 26-24 and 25-20.
For Oak Glen, Kell collected nine points, two aces, six assists, and two blocks; Poling tallied six points, six kills, and five digs; and Hissam had four digs.
Also for the Golden Bears, Porter produced six kills and four digs, Stivason ended up with nine kills and three blocks, and Williams contributed five points and 10 assists.
Next, Tice delivered 18 digs, Smith chipped in with three points and 11 digs and Madison Juszczak added one block. Hutton finished with two spikes.
Royals get a sweep
WINTERSVILLE - The Jefferson County Christian volleyball team earned a 25-16, 25-12, 25-11 victory over Wilson Christian Friday in Senior Night.
Lani Moro led the way with 15 points. Theresa Recznik added 12 and Margie Kissinger eight.
The Royals are 13-3.
