MCDONALD, Pa. - Heritage Public Library will host a Halloween Spooktacular, beginning at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 19, following the Children's Halloween Luminary Trail Walk sponsored by the McDonald Area Redevelopment Association.

The library is holding a drawing for two Pittsburgh Steelers football tickets, worth $184, for the Dec. 30 game against the Cleveland Browns. Only 500 tickets will be sold, and each ticket costs $4 each and has two numbers. Tickets can be purchased at the library or by mail at Heritage Public Library, 52 4th St., McDonald, PA 15057.
A book discussion group is held at 1 p.m. the second Tuesday of each month. October's book is "Best Kept Secret" by Les Roberts, and the discussion will be held Oct. 9. Those wanting to suggest a book for the group may do so by sending an email to email@example.com.
The McQuilters group meets at 10 a.m. the second Wednesday of each month, and the Weight Watchers group meets at 6 p.m. Tuesdays. Story time is held from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. each Thursday. It is open to children aged 2 to 5 years old. It includes a story, craft and brief musical period, if time allows.
The library board is looking members. The library board meets at 6:30 p.m. the second Wednesday of each month. Those interested should contact the library at (724) 926-8400.
The library is looking for volunteers. For a $25 donation, Heritage Friends receive a quarterly newsletter and have the option to participate in the "Tree of Friends" project which will debut this fall in the library's Children's Center. The library is offering daily sponsorships for $100, during which the library's phone will be answered informing callers who is sponsoring the library that day. The Friends of Heritage Public Library fundraising campaign is under way, and donations can be made on the library's website at www.heritagepublib.org. The library participates in the ABITIBI recycling fundraising program. The library also hosts a continuous book sale.
The library offers borough history on microfilm from the 1890s to 1982. It also offers fax services, a copy machine, a scanner, Internet and computer access and e-books, which can be checked out online at the library's website, using a valid library card number.

Library hours are 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Mondays, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Fridays and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays.
The library serves McDonald, Midway and Robinson and Mount Pleasant townships.
