Burgettstown Volleyball team to hold Pink Out fundraiser

BURGETTSTOWN, Pa. - The Burgettstown High School girls volleyball team will hold a Pink Out event during their home game against Bishop Canevin High School at 6 p.m. Oct. 11.

The event will include a bake sale and local vendors for Mary Kay Cosmetics, Premiere Jewelry and Tastefully Simple. There will be a prize drawing, and refreshments will be sold.

Car cruise scheduled

HICKORY - Rudy and Grace's Oldies Disc Jockey Car Cruise will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the Hickory Subway, coinciding with the Mount Pleasant Township Fire Co.'s 29th annual Apple Festival.

Trophies will be awarded, and a 50/50 drawing will be held. The event will be the conclusion of the Hickory Farmers and Country Market for the season, and the new season will begin in May. Rummage sale benefits missions

WEIRTON - The Phi Tau Kappa Circle, a missionary group that participates in neighborhood, city, state and world-wide missions, will hold a rummage sale from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the First Baptist Church at Homewood and Adams Streets.

New and gently used items, clothing and jewelry will be for sale, and the event will include crafts, and a soup and bake sale.

The public is welcome to attend.

Country Friends host Eldurays

COLLIERS - Country Friends will host the Eldurays Saturday at Memorial Hall located at 402 Old Police Lodge Road.

The doors open at 6 p.m., and the dance starts at 7 p.m.

Country Friends holds covered-dish dinners and open mic nights every Monday and Friday. The doors open at 4 p.m., the meal begins at 5 p.m. and open mic begins at 6 p.m.

Museum to host events

WEIRTON - The Weirton Area Museum will hosting three events in October.

John Pandelios will celebrate his birthday from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at the museum by signing his new book "Memoirs of North Weirton: 1920 Through the 1930s." The book includes photos, maps and information about north Weirton. The cost is $10, and all proceeds are being donated to the museum.

Tom Zielinsky will give a presentation on his book, "The Final Days of Weirton Steel: Could the Collapse Have Been Prevented?" from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Oct. 12 at the museum. The Akron Airstream Club, part of the Wally Byam Caravan Club International, will be visiting for a tour and the presentation.

The fourth annual Robert Haworth Memorial Art Exhibition will be held Oct. 20.

Alice Ann Whitehill will once again have her Christmas Snow Village train set in the museum's display window.

Library to show romantic comedy

WELLSBURG - The Brooke County Public Library will be showing "What to Expect When You're Expecting," a PG-13-rated film involving love and pregnancy seen through the eyes of five couples, at 1 p.m. Thursday. Call (304) 737-1551 to reserve a seat and popcorn.
