From the Pulpit: Do you have an unshakable life?

October 7, 2012
By THE REV. CRAIG M. GREATHOUSE - Family of God Christian Center , Weirton Daily Times

God is so good! His mercy endures forever. God loved us so much that He sent His only Son, Jesus, to deliver us from the power of sin, and welcome us into His family as children of God. I call it, "The Great Exchange!" Suspended between Heaven and earth, on an old rugged cross, Jesus took our sins and gave us His righteousness. Jesus took our sickness and diseases, and gives us healing and wholeness. Jesus took our spiritual poverty, and gives us the treasures of Heaven in these jars of clay. Jesus took our death, and gave us His eternal life. All He asks in return is this: that we believe that He is the Son of God, repent for our sins and follow Him.

Throughout history, the world has moved with the ebbs and tides of chaos and supernatural moves of God, called "revivals." Many people are asking the questions, "Is Jesus Christ coming soon? Are we in the last days? Is the Anti-Christ on the earth today?" There are many bible prophesies being fulfilled at this time in history. If you have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, then, I would say, "You are ready no matter what comes, whether you go to be with the Lord, or He comes back for His Church. "

Seasons come and seasons go. Nations rise and nations fall. The one certain thing in life is this: Everything changes, but God never changes. You can count on Him.

Hebrews 12:27-28 from the bible says that everything that can shake will shake. But, we have a kingdom that cannot be shaken, like it or not, believe it or not. You can hide your head in the sand and ignore the circumstances, but the world is changing at a rapid pace. Radical Islamic groups are staging the overthrow of Middle Eastern dictators, and most of these groups want to wipe Israel and the United States off the map. They believe that a Muslim Caliphate (similar to the Catholic pope), a world leader for Muslims, will arise out of chaos.

In the last year Iran announced that it is going to build a naval base on the coast of Syria, and Russia is also going to build a naval base in Syria. It is no coincidence that the bible predicted that in the last days that Russia would team up with Persia (Iran and Iraq) to invade Israel. Has the world forgotten? Just 67 years ago, Jews and Christians were freed from Nazi death camps where six million Jews were slaughtered. Are we poised to see the climax of biblical history? Libya, Egypt, and soon Syria will fall into the hands of the Muslim Brotherhood, a radical Islamic group that wants to destroy Israel and America.

What does that have to do with you? That's what people said when Hitler invaded Poland and the Netherlands and France. What does that have to do with me? It wasn't until Japan bombed Pearl Harbor that it became personal to the United States. What does that have to do with me? Gas prices could reach $5 a gallon in the near future. What about the failure of the wheat crops in the Ukraine or China and the price of food poised to soar? Could this really happen? Many believe it will happen soon. Former U.S. leaders have said that if Saudi Arabia falls into the hands of these Islamic extremists, that in five to 10 years many radical Islamic nations could have nuclear weapons.

Add to that, the mighty dollar has lost most of it's value, and the government of the United States and many of our sovereign states are on the verge of bankruptcy. This is not an article to preach gloom and doom, or try to scare hell out of people. This is the state of our world! We have trusted in money and trusted in our military power and our government to meet all of our needs. It is time to trust God with our lives again. Proverbs 3:5-6 says, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight." Deuteronomy 8:17-18 says, "You may say to yourself, 'My power and the strength of my hands have produced this wealth for me.' But remember the Lord your God, for it is he who gives you the ability to produce wealth, and so confirms his covenant, which he swore to your forefathers, as it is today."

Mark 8:36-37 says, "What good is it for a man to gain the whole world, and forfeit his own soul? Or, what can a man give in exchange for his soul?"

No matter how hard you try to hold on to your life, you will eventually die. The houses that we have built will eventually be torn down and others built in their places. Businesses and companies are built and eventually close. In contrast to that, the Kingdom of God will last forever.

Do you have an unshakable life? Put your faith in Jesus Christ today!

You won't regret it. You don't have to live in fear. You can walk in the peace that passes all understanding. Life is not about what you possess, but who or what possesses your heart - God or the pleasures of this world that are fading. The bible says that this world will pass away, but the Kingdom of God will last forever. Find a life-giving Church near you that preaches the Word of God and follow Jesus Christ.
