October 6, 2012
Weirton Daily Times
Members of the Trails and Greenways Committee and the Steubenville Recreation Department inspected two trails Friday afternoon in Beatty Park for a cleanup campaign today. The group assessed the Union Cemetery trail as well as the Jabby Young trail that leads to Pleasant Heights. Recreation Department Director Troy Kirkendall said he will be at the last pavilion in Beatty Park at 10 a.m. today to meet with volunteers. Kirkendall asked anyone participating in today’s cleanup efforts bring gloves and tools. Preparing to inspect the Union Cemetery trail were, from left, Mike Florak of Franciscan University of Steubenville; 1st Ward Councilman Gerald DiLoreto; Irene Moore of the Jefferson Soil and Water Conservation District; Sue Hershey, president of the Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce; Wendee Zadanski of the soil and water conservation district; and Dr. Robert Ronevich and Mike Paprocki of the Trails and Greenways Committee. Kirkendall, Mark Nelson and Judy Owings inspected the Jabby Young trail Friday afternoon. -- Dave Gossett
