WEIRTON - The 90th anniversary of the Myrtle McHendry Sunday School Class was celebrated with a dinner Oct. 2 at the Cove Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall.
President Betty Virtue welcomed members and guests, and the Rev. Ed Rudiger gave the blessing.
Following dinner, Eleanor Cline introduced musician Marvin Whiteman, who sang hymns and gospels and accompanied himself of the piano, followed by his personal testimony. Whiteman will be giving a Christmas concert Dec. 9 at the Buena Vista Church and invited the class to attend.
Virtue noted there would be no formal business meeting, but committee would still give reports.
Ways and Means Chair Eloise Evans reminded those attending that the group's Christmas in November event will be held Nov. 16-17. Gently used Christmas decorations, small household items and jewelry are needed for the sale. Donations can be dropped off at the church offices. During the sale, handmade pine Christmas pillows will be for sale.
Treasurer Rhadine Ross noted 17 members and 11 guests were in attendance.
November birthdays were acknowledged and members sang "Happy Birthday."
In honor of the class' 90th anniversary, Rudiger read the names of all the members, and Virtue and Debbie Rudiger presented each member with the book "Jesus is Calling," a daily devotional by Sarah Young.
Virtue closed the meeting by reading "Shower of Blessing" from the class handbook.
