STEUBENVILLE - Siobhan Fallon Hogan will discuss her faith and career as an actress during the Distinguished Speakers Series set for Oct. 25 at the Tony and Nina Gentile Gallery in the J.C. Williams Center at Franciscan University of Steubenville.

A Catholic wife, mother of three, and actress, Fallon Hogan will speak on "The Journey of a Catholic Actress" at 7:30 p.m.

Throughout her 20-year career, Fallon Hogan has worked in what many consider the place in greatest need of evangelization today: Hollywood. But instead of trying to achieve a head count in converts to Catholicism, she witnesses to her colleagues through ordinary conversations, the roles she chooses and in the decisions she makes.

She has turned down a number of morally compromising acting opportunities and is able not only to portray characters she's comfortable with her own children seeing, but set an example for other Catholic artists.

Raised a Catholic in New York, Fallon Hogan graduated from Le Moyne College and received her master's degree from Catholic University of America.

She is now a member of the Atlantic Theater Company.

Fallon Hogan is acclaimed for her roles in major films, including "Men in Black," "Forrest Gump," "Holes" and "Charlotte's Web" and also has been in television shows such as "Seinfeld," "Saturday Night Live" and "Law and Order."

The talk is a part of the fall 2012 semester's Distinguished Speakers Series at the university and is co-sponsored by the departments of academic affairs, student life and advancement.

The talk is free and open to the public.

Through the Distinguished Speakers Series, the university hosts leaders who integrate their faith and public life and who inspire the next generation to be a transforming presence in the Catholic Church and society.
