WEIRTON - The Rotary Club of Weirton Heights received a lesson in social media Tuesday, as well as how they can use their recently created Facebook group to keep in touch and inform the community about the club's activities.
Rotarian and local attorney Salene Mazur Kraemer explained she had put together a group page on Facebook for the club, which can be found by searching under "Rotary Club of Weirton Heights."
"Facebook is a powerful tool for our club," she said.

Mazur Kraemer said she believes the online group will provide another method for the club's members to keep in touch with each other, as well as to stay informed on the club's programs.
It also can be used to promote the club's programs and activities to area residents who either want to get involved in Rotary or might want to attend a fundraiser put on by the club or simply volunteer at one of their events.
Mazur Kraemer said, as a new member of the club herself, she was astounded to learn just how active the Rotary Club of Weirton Heights is in the community.
The Rotary Club of Weirton Heights holds an annual Mardi Gras fundraiser, for example, and is in the process of planning the second-annual Run with Rotary, to take place Oct. 27.
Rotarian Ed Powell said the group can help reach out to club members who might not always be able to make the weekly meetings.
"This could help for those people who don't attend," he said.
Mazur Kraemer said the Facebook group will allow mass messaging between club members, as well as for members to share photos and video from their events with the public.
