Country Friends will host the Sands of Time Saturday

COLLIERS - Country Friends will host the Sands of Time Saturday at Memorial Hall located at 402 Old Police Lodge Road.

The doors open at 6 p.m., and the dance starts at 7 p.m.

Country Friends holds covered-dish dinners and open mic night every Monday and Friday. The doors open at 4 p.m., the covered-dish dinner begins at 5 p.m. and open mic begins at 6 p.m.

Autism workshop eyes social skills

WEIRTON - Dr. Jim Ball of JB Autism Consulting will present "Skill Streaming and Social Stories" from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday at Weir High School's Little Theater located on Red Rider Road.

Ball will discuss teaching students social skills through modeling, role-playing, performance feedback and generalization.

He is a board-certified behavior analysts who has worked in the autism field for 20 years. Ball has provided educational, employment and residential services to autistic children and adults. He has lectured nationally and internationally, is a featured author and is on the Autism Asperger's Digest magazine advisory board. Ball is a New Jersey Center for Outreach and Services for the Autism Community board trustee.

The workshop is open to the public.

Church holding Fall Fun Fest

WEIRTON - Marland Heights Community Church will hold their annual Fall Fun Fest from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 20 at the church located at 3900 Bright Way.

The event will include games, face-painting, puppets and food. Children aged 3 to 10 will receive treat bags.

The festival will be held inside the church in case of inclement weather.

It is free to the public.

Trail Stitchers to meet

WHEELING - The National Trail Stitchers Chapter of the Embroidery Guild of America will meet at 7 p.m. Oct. 23 at St. Matthews Episcopalian Church located at 1414 Chaplin St.

This meeting's project is bookmarks for literacy. Those attending are asked to bring their own patterns and materials.

Marland Heights holding health fair

WEIRTON - The Marland Heights Pharmacy will hold a fall health fair from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 31 at the pharmacy located at 3901 Bright Way.

The event will include free health care screenings, a children's costume contest, free treat bags, flu shots and pneumonia vaccines. Flu shots will be provided at no cost to Medicare Part B recipients. For information, call (304) 748-8464.
