Looking a little like Christmas

Weirton Daily Times

Christmas may still be a couple of months away, but area residents can still get into the holiday spirit with the annual Follansbee Christmas in the Park being held this weekend.

The 10th-annual event, to be held Saturday and Sunday at Follansbee Park, brings together a great deal of Christmas-themed crafts, food and attractions to help bring a little cheer to our residents every October.

Holiday music will be played throughout the weekend, decorations handcrafted by local elementary school students will be hanging up, a live nativity will take place Saturday and even the jolly old elf himself will be making an appearance or two.

It's the perfect event for area residents wanting to get started on a little holiday shopping, maybe get into the Christmas mood a little early or simply get out and enjoy some time in one of our local communities with friends and neighbors.

And remember, the festival also serves as a fundraiser for area charities. This year, proceeds will go to the R.E.A.C.H. Program, which is a local food pantry, as well as the Anderson Children's Home, and a local student with special medical needs.

We encourage everyone to take some time this weekend to get out, enjoy the weather and help spread that Christmas spirit.
