The Weirton Area Water Board reports the water plant is scheduling a plant shut down, beginning at 10 p.m. Wednesday and lasting until 7 a.m. Thursday.
The shutdown will allow crews to repair a valve for the new main water line leaving the water treatment plant.
Customers in the higher elevations of downtown Weirton may experience loss of water or low water pressure during this outage.
Officials have stated water storage levels are at an adequate level for fire protection throughout the downtown area and the fire department has been notified.
Customers may experience discolored water throughout the city during this time, according to officials, and should refrain from washing laundry through Thursday morning.
