STEUBENVILLE - The Jefferson County Governing Board re-appointed Ken Simeral and Larry George Tuesday to serve on the Jefferson County Joint Vocational School Board of Education.
The two school board members have served on the JVS school board for the past several years.
Their new term on the board will run from Jan. 1 through Dec. 31, 2015.
"I appreciate the honor. I thoroughly enjoy serving on the JVS board," said Simeral.
George echoed Simeral's comments.
In other business at the monthly governing board meeting, members approved the donation of a 1997 Ford Taurus to the JVS.
Superintendent Joy Howell said the vehicle has a $200 resale value.
The board also approved the employment of Melissa Runnion as a Virtual Learning Academy teacher and agreed to donate $200 to PhET Interactive Simulations for the continued use of simulations to enhance the VLA science curriculum.
And the governing board approved sponsorship of the Jefferson County Educational Service Center luncheon and a health benefits plan reception in conjunction with the Ohio School Board Association and the Buckeye Association of School Administrators Capital Conference in Columbus next month.
The board agreed to delete several policies that are considered no longer relevant.
The next governing board meeting is set for 10:30 a.m. on Nov. 20.
