Weir High band welcomes the Stars of Magic show

WEIRTON - The Weir High School Band will host the Stars of Magic at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the high school theater. Puck and Scott Alexander, both of whom appeared on "America's Got Talent" in recent seasons, and magicians Dan Harlan, Ben Salinas and Strolling Joe Kelly will perform.

Elks give Salvation Army a hand

WEIRTON - The Weirton Elks Lodge 1801 will assist the Weirton Salvation Army in obtaining items for the food pantry.

The lodge is handing out grocery bags, asking participants to "take a bag of nothing and make it a bag of something." Items needed include soup, tuna, cereal and nonperishable food items. Participants can return filled bags to the lodge until Oct. 20 or to the Salvation Army on Cove Road until Oct. 23. Those dropping off filled bags will receive a free lunch at the Salvation Army.

The Salvation Army's Free Lunch Program was created to focus on the Oct. 27 observance of Make a Difference Day, created in 1990 to encourage people to be of service to others.

OSP?casting 'Christmas'

HICKORY, Pa. - The Old Schoolhouse Players will hold auditions for the December musical "Christmas - The Way It Was," written and directed by Cynthia Berg, from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Oct. 23-24 at the theater located in the Mount Pleasant Township Community Center located at 20 Wabash Ave.

There will be cold reading from the script, and those who want to audition for a singing role should prepare an upbeat song from the Big Band Era. Musical Director Ruth Ann Fox will provide accompaniment.

Church holding fall bazaar

COLLIERS - The Colliers United Methodist Church will hold its annual fall bazaar and turkey dinner Oct. 27 at the church located at 318 Pennsylvania Avenue, across from the Colliers Post Office.

The bazaar will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and will include a bake sale, White Elephant and jewelry. A variety of soup and sandwiches will be available for eat-in and take-out from 10 a.m. to noon, and dinner will be served from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. It includes turkey, dressing, potatoes and gravy, green beans, rolls, dessert and a drink. The cost is $8 for adults, $4 for children 12 and under and free for children 6 and under. Carry-out will be available.
