Church Women United for UNICEF

October 19, 2012
Weirton Daily Times
The Church Women United again are holding their annual UNICEF fundraiser, which the group has supported since 1959. A Pennsylvania family began collecting change for children who lost parents in World War II in 1950. More than $132 million have been collected through Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF. The group now provides immunization, education, health care, nutrition, clean water and sanitation to children in 156 countries. Church Women will hold a Tag Day at the Weirton Shop’n Save Thursday with Cove Presbyterian Church and Oakland United Presbyterian members and others collecting. Member churches also will make collections. Those assisting with the project, include, from left, Isobel Bell, Gerri Harbaugh, Eleanor Cline, Eloise Evans, UNICEF Chair Karen Tate and Mark Harbaugh. -- Contributed
