Educators attend seminar on Masonic program

Weirton Daily Times

Local educators from Indian Creek Local School District attended a three-day seminar in Cadiz on the Masonic Model Student Assistance Program. It was available to school districts throughout the state to inform educators on how to identify children who are at risk at various levels and to put into place an intervention program on how to help those children.

The seminar was presented by Larry Newman, founder of the MMSAP program, and Joe Brancoccio.

It is sponsored solely by the Grand Lodge of Masons of Ohio. The seminar, instruction, pamphlets, breakfast and lunch were funded by the Masonic fraternity. Continuing education credits were awarded to those who attended all three days.

For information on the program, visit and click on the Masonic Model SAP. The next seminar is tentatively scheduled for February in Springfield.

Seminar participants included Kim Carnahan, Brittany Sperlazza, Mary Jo DiPietro, Jill Wickham, Jeanette Henderson of Jefferson Behavioral Health Systems, parent Robert Martin, Indian Creek Superintendent John Rocchi, Mike Cottis and Julie Robinson.
