Members of the River's Edge Garden Club, for the October gathering, met at Newburg Landing Park for a fall clean-up before proceeding to the home of Karen Thompson.
President Mary Bilchak opened the business meeting by leading members in the club collect. Devotions from the upper room on "True Hospitality" were given by Karen Thompson. There were nine members in attendance. The annual program books were distributed.
The minutes of the September meeting were read by Ginny Popson, secretary, and Betty Stewart, treasurer, gave the financial report.
Gail Saner reported field trips are planned, including nature walks on Saturdays at Raccoon State Park. Janoski's Farm and Greenhouse also hosts garden workshops in the evenings, and information is available on its website. Interest was expressed in learning about identifying and picking mushrooms.
Bilchak reported Susan Guski will be the March program at the home of Mary Jane Ighnat. She is the "green gardener" and will speak on recycling and re-purposing.
The next meeting will be at the home of Bilchak, and the speaker will be Gary Rush, who will host a program on butterflies.
Refreshments with a fall theme were served by Karen Thompson and Janet Saner.
