Local contest winners named

WEIRTON - The winners of the Weirton-Wellsburg Chapter of Credit Unions coloring contest have been announced, after 3,000 entries from Hancock and Brooke county schools and area credit union members were judged.

The winners were recognized at the chapter's Oct. 10 meeting and received a $25 Wal-Mart gift certificate, certificates from the chapter and the City of Weirton and a souvenir photo. Hancock County Superintendent Suzan Smith, Brooke Director Rhonda Combs and Fifth Ward Councilman George Gaughenbaugh also attended the meeting to congratulate the students.

This is the ninth annual contest in observance of International Credit Union Day.

The chapter includes Eagle Can Employees Federal Credit Union, First Choice America Community Federal Credit Union, Hancock School Employees Federal Credit Union, Strip Steel Community Federal Credit Union and Tin Mill Community Federal Credit Union.
