Camera club event
at Weirton library
The Upper Ohio Valley Camera Club will hold the "Colors of Autumn" photograph exhibit and slide show at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Mary H. Weir Public Library's outdoor gallery.
Those attending will move to the activity room, where a digital slide show on the same theme will be shown at 6:15 p.m.
The poster-sized pictures are laminated for weather endurance and displayed on special wooden structures. Claudia Norris, Barb Momyer, Dave Rees, Sam Rees, Debra Snider, Pat Grimm, Vince Trupiano, Jodi Russell, Judy Whiting, Steve Whiting, Diane Bannister, Deborah Bush and Shana Pepper are exhibiting photos. Bannister is the exhibit and event coordinator.
The camera club has participated in several exhibits at the library since 2004. Club members describe this as the "most colorful" exhibit they've mounted. The pictures will remain on display until Nov. 24.
The event is free to the public.
has busy agenda
The Italian American Cultural Club reviewed plans for its upcoming fundraiser, "Festa del Vino," when members gathered Oct. 8 for the regular meeting held at St. Florian Hall.
Theresa Metcalf, event chair, reported the Nov. 9 fundraiser will generate money for the Rev. Edmondo Stabene Memorial Scholarship Fund. Iron City Distributing and Choice Brands of Ohio will supply the wines, beers and hard ciders while Piergallini Catering will supply the food and a hot beverage bar. Entertainment will include Rick Pastre and Joel Smith. There will be a silent auction, door prizes and a 50-50 drawing. John Balzano will serve as master of ceremonies.
There were 140 members attending the meeting where Carm Gentile, president, presided.
Michele Fabbro reported applications for new members are available and must be returned by Nov. 1. The list of new members will be presented to the club at its Nov. 12 meeting.
Fabbro also reported on the All Souls Mass to be held at 6 p.m. Nov. 2 at St. Agnes Church. Car pooling is available if members need a ride to the Mingo Junction church. Refreshments will be served after the Mass. Those going should RSVP by calling Fabbro.
In a Campo Extension report, Gentile said the Italian language class for children will begin at 1 p.m. Nov. 11 and continue for six weeks. Domenico DiBacco will be the instructor.
Louise Donofe reported the Christmas party will be held Dec. 16.
Dominic Potts reported on the Stabene Society dinner being held.
Gentile reminded members that the club's January and February meetings will be "Italians with Talent." It is not a contest.
The program featured Theresa DeCaria discussing her cookbook "The Table My Mother Set."
Fun Seekers get
The Fun Seekers held their monthly meeting at the YWCA with the singing mother-daughter duo Roz and Lynn leading the members in a special opening song "God Bless the U.S.A."
Beverly Dibiase was the winner of the 50/50 drawing. Mary Beth Bauer won the dinner prize.
Door prize winners were Cecilia Fritz, Mary Rose Spano, Tony LaRosa, Gloria DiMeo, Michele Fabbro, Myro Mihalic, Walt Klepadlo and Ann Iachini.

of Toronto meet
The Sunrise Seniors of Toronto met Oct. 12 with President Susan Kulstad welcoming Marilyn Campbell as a new member.
A moment of silence was observed for Pete Trudick, a member who recently died.
Chaplain Glenn Smith gave grace before the roast beef covered-dish dinner.
Reports were given by Secretary Mary Lou Deku, Treasurer Mike Timko and Social Secretary Susan Conaway.
Kulstad announced that dues of $5 are now due for the coming year. She introduced Myra Hines, a pharmacist from Toronto Apothecary, who gave information on Medicare Part D and answered questions from members. The enrollment period is under way through Dec. 7.
John Bodrog provided information about the planned bus trip to Branson, Mo., May 19-25. It will include six nights' lodging, which includes four nights in Branson, six breakfasts and four dinners and seven shows. Payments will be made over a three-month period, with the first one Jan. 11, 2013. Some spots are still available.

The DooWop concert trip is Saturday. The bus will leave at 4 p.m. from the Cornerstone parking lot in Toronto. Dinner is at Mehlman's Cafeteria before the show.
The Christmas dinner is Dec. 14 at St Francis Hall starting at 5 p.m. with appetizers and dinner at 6 p.m.
Door prizes were won by Jo Andrews and Ray Horne. The 50/50 was shared by Kitty Roth and Mike Timko. Bingo winners were Patty Roth, Marilyn Campbell, Bruce Pertko, Connie Lopushansky, Marcella McKnight, Donna Twyford, Jim Wilson, Fred Pernick, Jay Smith, Mary Lou Deku, Lucy Timko, Glenn Smith, Bob Deku and Marlene Garrett. The next meeting will be held Friday at 5 p.m. in the Roosevelt Senior Center. The October kitchen committee is Eileen Cernansky, Jean Henderson, Jay Smith, Lou Nelson and Helen Lindsay.

The National Trail Stitchers Chapter of the Embroidery Guild of America will meet Tuesday at 7 p.m. at St. Matthew's Episcopalian Church located at 1414 Chaplin St., Wheeling.
Members will work on bookmarks for literacy and are encouraged to bring their ideas, patterns and materials.
The mission of the group is to stimulate an appreciation for and celebrate the heritage of embroidery by advancing the highest standards of excellence in its practice through education, exhibition, preservation, collection and research, according to a chapter spokesperson.

Craft, vendor show
in East Springfield
The East Springfield Volunteer Fire Department will host a holiday craft and vendor show on Nov. 10 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the fire hall located at 9845 co. Road 39, East Springfield.
There will be a variety of crafters and vendors, hot food, drinks, drawings and a photographer taking Christmas photos. Santa also will be on hand.
All proceeds benefit the fire department.
