Prison sentence

ordered in drug case

STEUBENVILLE - Robert J. Zelinka, 64, of Poland was sentenced to nine months in prison by Jefferson County Common Pleas Judge Joseph Bruzzese Jr. after Zelinki pleaded guilty to drug charges.

Zelinka pleaded guilty to two counts of possession of drugs and one count of aggravated possession of drugs. Zelinka was arrested by the Ohio State Highway Patrol on Sept. 2 and a trooper found cocaine and prescription pills.

Zelinka has numerous felony and misdemeanor convictions and served a prior prison term.

Zelinka admitted to having an addiction problem for 40 years.

Probation violation

STEUBENVILLE -Jeffrey L. Chevalier, 51, of Toronto was sentenced Monday by Jefferson County Common Pleas Judge Joseph Bruzzese Jr. to nine months in prison after Chevalier admitted to a probation violation.

Chevalier was sentenced by Bruzzese in July to six months in the Eastern Ohio Correction Center after Chevalier pleaded guilty to importuning.

Chevalier admitted he refused to participate in programs at the Eastern Ohio Correction Center.

Chevalier was arrested by Toronto Police in March after he asked two teenage boys to come back to his apartment. He admitted in court that he asked the one boy if the boy was "pimping" out his friend. He then followed the boys until they ran.

Bruzzese ruled that Chevalier is a sexually oriented offender, requiring him to report his address annually to the sheriff's department for 15 years.

Wintersville Council

WINTERSVILLE - Village Council has rescheduled its bi-monthly meeting for 7 p.m. today at the Municipal Building. A finance committee meeting is planned prior to the regular council meeting.

Farm Bureau meeting

set Wednesday

STEUBENVILLE - The Jefferson County Farm Bureau promotion and education committee will meet at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Bob Evans to discuss future agriculture education activities.

Other topics will be awarding books to Toronto schools, the Head Start program and the new location of the Farm Bureau office.

Wells Township senior

citizens to meet

BRILLIANT - The Wells Township senior citizens will meet at 1 p.m. Friday at the Wells Township Community/Senior Center on Steuben Street.

Soup and sandwiches will be served. Plans for the Christmas party will be discussed.
