WEIRTON - The American Legion Post 10 Ladies Auxiliary held their monthly meeting Oct. 15, with President Shirley Brecht calling the meeting to order and presiding over the business session.
Chaplain Wanda Perrone gave the invocation, and Brecht welcomed and pinned new member Anna-Maria Taylor. The auxiliary recited the Pledge of Allegiance and Preamble to the Constitution of the American Legion Auxiliary.
Secretary Clara Robinson called roll; the September meeting minutes were read and approved and filed for audit; and Treasurer Loretta Fabian gave the financial report, which was filed for audit. Membership Chair Gloria Jerrel announced two new members, Doreen Holstein and Sabrina Jones, and reviewed the revised by-laws.
The group received a thank-you card from the Games family. The veterans dinner will be held at 2:30 p.m. Oct. 21.
The auxiliary will host the children's Christmas party at 5 p.m. Dec. 7 at the legion hall. The group will provide food and gifts, and Santa Claus will visit with the children. The adult's Christmas party will be held at 5 p.m. Dec. 8 at the legion hall. It will include a ham and chicken dinner, desserts, door prizes and a 50/50 drawing. Those planning to attend should indicate this by signing up at the legion hall before Nov. 26. The auxiliary will be making a financial gift in support of the events, and Joan Spano will make a tray of cookies for the party. Legion members will donate a basket of cheer. The auxiliary will hold their Christmas party at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 17.
Wanda Perrone won the 50/50 drawing, and Pat Folden and Brecht served refreshments.
Brecht adjourned the meeting.
The November meeting will be a covered-dish dinner.
