WMC auxiliary plans Halloween party

WEIRTON - The Weirton Medical Center Auxiliary Board met Oct. 16 in the Starvaggi Board Room, with President Sondra Weigel conducting the business meeting.

The 21 attending members recited the auxiliary prayer and Pledge of Allegiance. Recording Secretary Elda Weekley read the September meeting minutes; Weigel reported for Corresponding Secretary Mary Lou Batcho that the group received a thank-you note from the Betty Coen family; and Treasurer Paul Billick gave the financial report.

The following service reports were given: Phil Troia, clergy; Barbara Visnic, gift cart; Barbara Cameron and Barbara Tunno, information /surgery schedule; Weekley, reporting for Peg Barber, mail; Paul Billick, payroll deductions; Diana Crago, radiology, four new transports were added; Marg DiClemente, skilled care, a Halloween party will be held Oct. 30 for patients on level six; Beth DiGregorio, surgical desk escorts; and Jenne Fetty and Domenica Malloy, telephone.

Special reports were given by: Flo Jonczak, birth certificates; Alma Wansack, Remembrance fund; and Dolores Krinock, membership. Joan Hawrot, hospitality, reported the auxiliary Christmas party will be held at 5 p.m. Dec. 5 in the cafeteria.

Vivian Weigel, gift shop committee, reported two new gift shop employees, Becki Stout and Gail Seevers, have been hired. Rose Ulizio, Mrs. Bubbles program, reported the group will be visiting Broadview School Nov. 16 and Weirton Heights Elementary Nov. 19. Alma Wansack, Remembrance fund, and Dolores Krinock, membership. Reports also were given on the mum sale and the Thee jewelry sale.

Administrative Liaison Barbara Coalter discussed projects underway and pending. The Halloween party will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Oct. 26, and it will include games, treats and prizes. A craft show will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Medical Office Building's Rooms A, B and C.

Katy Rosohac, record of hours: Members volunteering most hours for the second quarter are Sondra Weigel, 209; Jeannie Duffy, 180.5; Elda Weekley, 159.5; Paula Billick, 154; Pat Gurrera, 153; Margaret Porchiran, 151; Augie DiGirolamo, 150; Marg DiClemente, 134; Marilyn Hinchee, 132; and Flo Jonczak, 121.5. Total hours for the second quarter are 3,868.

Sondra Weigel, volunteen hours: top three volunteens for second quarter were Jackson Carey, 59; Ireland Fruehan, 41; and Kayla Hancher, 33.5. Total volunteen hours for second quarter are 284.5.

Following the meeting, a reception was held in honor of Marg DiClemente being chosen as Weirton Medical Center's Volunteer of the Year.

DiClemente also was chosen as the regional and Auxiliary of the West Virginia Hospitals Association's Volunteer of the Year.
