Country Friends to host Art

Beal and Country Tradition

COLLIERS - The Country Friends will host Art Beal and The Country Tradition at a dance Saturday at the Memorial Hall located at 402 Old Police Lodge Road.

Doors open at 6 p.m., and the dance starts at 7 p.m. Country Friends host covered-dish dinners and open mic nights ever Monday and Friday. The doors open at 4 p.m., the meal begins at 5 p.m., and open mic begins at 6 p.m. For information, call (304) 527-4253 or (304) 479-1270 or visit

Lions to hold wine-tasting

WEIRTON - The Weirton Lions Club and Tri State Winemakers Club will hold a wine-tasting from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday at Penn Place, formerly Legends, on Pennsylvania Avenue in Weirton Heights.

The cost is $12, and includes wines and finger foods. Proceeds benefit Lions Club community projects. For information, contact Lion Bernice Pitcock at (304) 797-8374.

Church celebrating Deaconesses

WELLSVILLE, Ohio - First Baptist Church will celebrate their annual Deaconess Day at 4 p.m. Sunday.

Evangelist Ruth Stinson of Mount Carmel Community Baptist Church will be the guest speaker. The Women's Flag Ministry of Second Baptist and the First Baptist Mass Choir will minister through music. The community is invited.

Gabriel Projet holding fundraiser

WEIRTON - The Northern Panhandle Chapter of the Gabriel Project will hold a fundraiser from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Nov. 3 at all local Bob Evans Restaurants, including the Three Springs Drive location, two National Road locations, the Highlands location and the New Martinsville Location.

The Gabriel Project supports families with young children by providing cribs and other neccessary baby items.

All Saints holding breakfast

WEIRTON - The All Saints Greek Orthodox Church American Helenic Educational Progressive Association will hold an all-you-can-eat pancake and sausage breakfast from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Nov. 4 at the All Saints Hellenic Memorial Hall located at 3528 West St. Tickets are $5 and children 8 and under are free. Meals include all-you-can-eat pancakes, sausage and coffee or juice. AHEPA members will serve. Proceeds benefit the scholarship fund.

WorkForce has computer center

WEIRTON - WorkForce West Virginia has a free, high-speed public computer center at the facility located at Suite 300, 100 Municipal Plaza.

Students and residents can receive help with resume preparation, online job searches and applications, research papers and homework assignments. Residents also can get their General Equivalency Diploma or participate in online classes and training.

The center is funded by an American Recovery and Reinvestment Act Broadband Technology Opportunities Program grant.
