WEIRTON - The city's trick-or-treat hours have been rescheduled for 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday due to the rain and wind from the remnants of Hurricane Sandy, Mayor George Kondik announced Monday.
Kondik said the public works, fire and police departments are preparing for possible flooding.
"I would personally like to ask all citizens to please check catch basins in your area to make sure all debris has been removed from these areas," said Kondik. "Public works is currently working on cleaning all catch basins, so if you locate one in your area that has been overlooked, please help us in removing debris from this area."
The Millsop Community Center will serve as a community shelter for all city residents, if needed.
Children are not to visit a house unless the porch light is on, the mayor noted at trick-or-treating.
