WEIRTON - The Family of God Christian Center will hold its sixth season of Upward Basketball and Cheerleading.

The cost is $65 before Thursday and $70 thereafter. Kindergarteners through sixth-graders will be evaluated from noon to 5 p.m. Nov. 10 and 17 and seventh- and eighth-graders will be evaluated 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., all at the R.J. Bush Center, located at 3474 Pennsylvania Ave.

St. Nicholas holding bake sale
WEIRTON - St. Nicholas Orthodox Church will hold a haluski and kielbasa sandwich dinner and bake sale, beginning at 2 p.m. Thursday at the church located at 604 Colliers Way, across from the Weirton Medical Center.
The meal includes haluski, kielbasa sandwich and a dessert. The cost is $7.

Senior Center holding dance
WEIRTON - The Greater Weirton Area Senior Center will hold their "First Thursday" dance from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Thursday at the center located on Main St.
Sands of Time will perform. The doors open at 5 p.m.
Friday night bingo is available weekly, and doors open at 5 p.m. Early birds start at 6:30 p.m., and regular bingo begins at 7 p.m. Packets are $25.
Pumpkin rolls are for sale at $8 each. They can be ordered by calling the center at (304) 748-3490 or by stopping in.
Tickets are now available for the New Year's Eve celebration and are $25 for a couple or $15 per person.

Church offering 'Gowns Galore'
CHESTER - The Chester First United Methodist Church congregation is sponsoring their fifth annual "Gowns Galore" used gown sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 10 at the church located at 240 Carolina Ave.
Area residents are encouraged to offer gently worn prom and homecoming dresses for a fee of $5 per dress. Those selling dresses set the sales price and receive the money from sales. Dresses can be brought to the church from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday.
Only cash will be accepted at the sale. Hailie Crummitt of Diapers to Diamonds Photography will photograph the dresses, and those photos will be posted to the "Gowns Galore" Facebook page.
All unsold dresses and money must be picked up from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 11. Unclaimed dresses will be given to charity.

Cup of Life has 'Vendor Night'
WEIRTON - The Cup of Life Ministries will hold its "Vendor Night" from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Marland Heights Community Church located at 3900 Bright Way.
There will be 12 different vendors, and soup and sandwiches will be available.

COLLIERS - Country Friends will host The Eldurays Saturday at the Memorial Hall located at 402 Old Police Lodge Road.

Beautiful Baby winner announced
WELLSBURG - Ethan Arthurs, 1, of Wellsburg was voted the Most Beautiful Baby in a contest held by the Brooke County Right to Life during the Wellsburg Applefest.
His photo was submitted by his parents, Richard Arthurs and Clarissa Rae. He is the grandson of Denver and Jill Rae and the late George and Bunny Arthurs. He will receive a $100 savings bond and invitation to appear in the Wellsburg Fourth of July Parade.

Driving course offered to vets
WEIRTON - An AARP safe driving class will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Nov. 15 at West Virginia Northern Community College, and there's no charge for military veterans and their families.
Taught by Mel Vorhees, the two-day class is geared toward older adults who may or may not be experiencing diminished vision, hearing and reaction time, all common to the aging process. Most insurance agencies offer a discount to those who have completed it.
The cost is $12 for AARP members and $14 for non-members. It covers materials and must be paid in advance. This month the class is free to all current and former members of the military, their spouses or widows and children.
Eligible veterans include those who have served in the National Guard, Reserves and Coast Guard as well as the Army, Navy, Air Force and Marines. Class space is limited, so reservations should be made by calling (304) 527-3410.
