Activities at the Toronto First Presbyterian

Sunday - Communion will be celebrated during worship service; and the deacons will meet following the service.

Bible study at Whispering Hills

A nondenominational Bible study meets at 6:30 p.m. every Monday in the Whispering Hills apartment complex community room, 901 Bank St. All are welcome, and no collections are taken. Children's Bible study is at 6:30 p.m. every Thursday at the community room. All children are welcome.

Activities at Riverview United Methodist Church

The church office is open from 8 a.m. until noon Mondays through Fridays. For information, call (740) 537-2210.

The Toronto Unit of the Salvation Army located in the Riverview Church is available from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. For information, call (740) 537-4737.

Events at North River Avenue Christian Church

Upcoming events at North River Avenue Christian Church include:

Sunday - A seminar on securing a new minister with Hoyt W. Allen Jr. will begin at 9:45 a.m. All Bible classes will assemble in the auditorium. The youth groups will meet at at 6 p.m. in the church basement. The adult meditation service begins at 7 p.m. in the church sanctuary.

Monday -The Boy Scouts will meet at 6:30 p.m.

Wednesday - Bible study will begin at 7 p.m. in the overflow room opposite the sanctuary. Adult choir practice is at 8:15 p.m.

Nov. 11 - All veterans will be recognized during the morning worship service.

Nov. 14 - The turkey harvest dinner will begin at 6 p.m. Soup and sandwiches will be served in the fellowship hall, and donations collected will benefit the His Hands Extended Food Pantry and Colegio Biblico, an international disaster relief organization.

Adult Bible study continues at 11 a.m. every Sunday. The church junior worship program continues at 9:45 a.m. every Sunday for ages 5 through fourth-graders in the downstairs worship area.

Nov. 25 - Members will decorate the church sanctuary for Christmas. Soup and sandwiches will be served.

Upcoming events at Toronto First United Methodist Church include:

Sunday - Sunday school will begin at 9:30 a.m.; the rise and shine contemporary service will begin at 8:30 a.m.; and the worship service begins at 10 :45 a.m.

Monday - Bible study begins at 6 p.m. The trustees will meet at 7 p.m.

Tuesday - Bible study begins at 10 a.m. The Adventure Club meets from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Wednesday - The bell choir meets at 6 p.m.; and the choir at 7 p.m.

Thursday- TOPS will meet at 5:30 p.m.

Boy Scouts to collect food

The Toronto Boy Scout Troop 21 at North River Avenue Christian Church has made plans for its annual two-week food canvassing and collection program set Saturday and Nov. 9.

The canvass area begins at Spring Street in the city's north end and continues to the south end of Toronto to include Walton Acres and Wallace Heights.

Saturday morning, troop representatives will canvass participants and distribute door hangers. In the event of rain, the collection will be Monday.

Nov. 10 will be the food collection day itself. Participants are encouraged to attach the door hanger with the donations, leaving them on the porch where they can be seen easily from the street.

Participants are asked to call Gary Hawkins at (740) 537-4926 for item pickup. If a donation has not been picked up by 11:30 a.m. on Nov. 10, call (740) 381-8780.

All items collected will be donated to the His Hands Extended Toronto Food Pantry.
