Awareness and support

November 5, 2012
Weirton Daily Times
Mary Kay Haas of Wellsburg, who has multiple sclerosis, was wheeled by family members through the main corridor of Brooke High School during the third-annual Brooke County MS Walk Sunday at Brooke High School. More than 75 area residents turned out to promote awareness and support of the disease and raise money for treatment and research through the event, which was coordinated by Kim Chapline-Byers of Wellsburg, who also has MS, with the help of many friends and family members. When not taking laps, participants could purchase an assortment of household products, with a portion of proceeds going to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. Chances also are being sold for a Fiestaware set and $50 gift card donated by Homer Laughlin China Co. through Dec. 17. For information, call Chapline-Byers at (304) 737-3335. -- Warren Scott
